BAX Private Dining

Private chef · Japanese & Asian cuisine · Athens · Mykonos · 2026

A private chef’s dinner, told as a scroll story before the first course.

BAX is the private-dining practice of chef George Baxevanis: Japanese and Asian cuisine, cooked in clients’ homes for dinners and events. We built a site that sells the evening itself, moving from black ink to colour and ending in a booking inquiry.

The brief

A private chef sells an experience that a menu or an Instagram grid can’t explain. The site had to make a first-time visitor feel the evening is worth paying for, show what a private dinner at home actually involves, and capture a proper inquiry: date, guests, location, dietary needs and budget. And because links get shared in messaging apps, it had to stay fast on a phone.

What we delivered

  1. 01

    An eight-beat scroll story

Ink drop, hands and steel, bloom, the dish, the evening, the chef, proof, and the ask. It opens in monochrome sumi-e ink and turns to colour at the moment the dish is finished.

  2. 02

    Hand-built WebGL

Custom shaders for the ink drop and ink-wipe transitions, a GPU-instanced bloom of petals and micro-greens, a 3D dish you can turn, and an ink-masked portrait of the chef.

  3. 03

    Pages the chef can send

The dish, the experience, the chef and the inquiry each have their own page, so a client can be sent straight to the part they asked about.

  4. 04

    Fast on every device

Three tiers, chosen once on load: full 3D on capable desktops, poster frames on phones, and a static version for reduced motion. The inquiry form always works. The build fails if any page’s JavaScript goes over its budget.

  5. 05

An inquiry form, not a contact box

Date, guests, location, dietary needs and budget, validated on the server. Spam is stopped without a CAPTCHA, and no personal details are written to logs.

  6. 06

A shot list for the photographer

Every image slot is specified by file name, size, aspect and what the shot must show, so the real photography drops in without touching code.

Where it stands

Built and running on a private staging server. It goes public once the photography is shot and the domain is set up.
